Scattered Spider and ShinyHunters merger confirmed by leader
New insights reveal Scattered Spider and ShinyHunters are the same group, according to a direct statement from ShinyHunters’ leader via Telegram. This contradicts prior attribution confusion from Google Threat Intelligence (UNC6040 vs. UNC6240). French authorities may have arrested the wrong individual, as the leader remains active.

Ransomware group falsely attributes medical practice leak to tax data
A ransomware group listed a medical practice on its leak site, but the actual data belonged to a California-based tax preparer. The leak contained client tax-related files (2011–2024), but no patient or medical records. The tax preparer did not respond to multiple notifications.
